Fotofacial RF - Introduction

What is Fotofacial RF?
Fotofacial RF is a technique for skin rejuvenation employing the Aurora SR device. The Aurora SR combines the technologies of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and RF (Radiofrequency) to provide one of the safest and most effective methods for skin rejuvenation with no downtime. By combining technologies which are synergistic, we can maximize the benefits of each at lower power levels minimizing discomfort, risk of side effect and recovery time.

We have seen rapid improvement of dilated blood vessels, facial redness, sun-induced freckles and pigmentation. Textural changes including skin smoothing effects, possible shrinkage of pores and improvement of fine wrinkles take a little longer to appreciate. Five treatments are required for maximum effect and are usually done one month apart. Usually, improvement is apparent before the second treatment occurs.

Potential side-effects include: mild discomfort at time of procedure, redness which last 1-2 hours, small superficial burns which clear in 5 days or less without scar. Skin testing to determine tolerance is always done before each session.

Sun protection is a must before and after the treatments. Tanned skin, even tan from a bottle, increases the likelihood of side effect.
