What is Radiance?
Radiance is an injectable filler substance made synthetically in a lab. It is made up of tiny micro spheres of calcium hydroxylappetite, the same minerals that make up bones and teeth, that is then mixed with sterile glycerin and water. It is used to fill in deeper wrinkles and lines, acne scars and to enhance the lip size. It is not a protein, so no skin test is required.

Is it safe?
Radiance has been used for many, many years and is FDA approved for medical procedures, such as strengthening vocal cords, in dental and orthopedic and urological procedures and as a tissue marker. It has been tested and used for over 5 years in Italy and Europe for cosmetic purposes with outstanding results! It was introduced in the USA last year at the International Plastic Surgery Conference for cosmetic uses and is currently used off-label (just like Botox was for years) all across the USA by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for cosmetic uses. FDA approval is pending and is expected in the near future for cosmetic uses. Side effects have been very, very rare.

Is it expensive?
The initial investment is more than collagen, but over time, the cost is much less because Radiance has been shown to last at least 2 years up to 5 or more years. It is sold in a 1cc syringe and at the time of consultation, we will let you know if 1 cc will be adequate to provide the results you are looking for.

How long does an appointment take?
The treatment takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Does it hurt?
Unlike collagen, Radiance does not have a numbing medicine in it, so a topical numbing ointment is necessary to apply prior to treatment. If the lips are being treated, we will do a quick dental nerve block prior to treatment. With these techniques, the injections are very bearable with minimal discomfort.

Is there a recovery?
No! You achieve the results and may resume normal activities immediately. However, the bruising may be more extensive than with collagen and we ask that your "rest" the injected area after the injection. Thins means that you should not manipulate or massage the injected area for several days.

Is it permanent?
No. Radiance has been shown to last in cosmetic procedures for at least 2 years up to 5 years or more.

Who will be injecting and what are their qualification?
Jill Jones, RN will be injecting the products.
Jill is a certified plastic surgical nurse with sixteen years experience in plastic surgery. She has extensive experience in injecting Botox and Radiance and maintains certifications in Collagen injections, Laser Hair Removal and Skin Care. Jill earned her nursing degree in 1986, completing a rigorous process in 1992 to become a Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse. Jill maintains an active leadership role in the American Society of Plastic Surgical Nurses.

How are the doctors involved?
The doctors review every patient chart and assess to make sure the treatments are appropriate and that the patient is satisfied. They are also there for any potential problems, which are very, very rare.
